Part of the Fortemap platform · Assisted Intelligence
From artificial intelligence to assisted intelligence
We changed one word and it changed how we build. AI in Fortemap prepares the work: it reads CVs and briefs, scores a shortlist and drafts documents. Recruiters and hiring managers make every decision.
Why "assisted"
What recruiters told us they wanted from AI
Our first AI ideas looked like most of the market: score every applicant, rank the pool, generate outreach. We tested them on live searches with the recruiters at Gallop Research, our research partner.
Their feedback was consistent. A score with no reasons could not go in front of a client. Running a model over two hundred CVs to find the ten they already knew about was slow and cost money. And nobody wanted software deciding who got rejected in a confidential search.
So we reordered the work. The system searches what the firm already knows, AI goes to work on the shortlist, and every output is something a recruiter can read, check and overrule.
"If I can't explain a score to a board, I can't use it. The reasons matter more to me than the number."
"The dossier draft saves me the formatting. I still read every line before it goes to the client."
How it works
Four steps, and a person owns the last one
Structure
Resume parsing and JD parsing turn CVs and briefs into structured fields. Duplicates are caught before a second profile exists.
Match without AI
System Match compares skills across your talent pool and fills the Identification Bucket for the role. It costs nothing and runs all the time.
Score the shortlist
You choose who to score. The model returns a 0–100 match with sub-scores, a written rationale and points to validate.
Draft, then decide
Dossiers and summaries are drafted from the record. The recruiter edits, approves and moves the candidate. AI does not.
What a score looks like
A number you can defend in a client meeting
Every AI match shows how it was reached. Recruiters see where the candidate is strong, where the evidence is thin and what to ask about before presenting them.
- Overall score from 0 to 100
- Sub-scores for skills, experience and stated requirements
- A plain-language rationale tied to the brief
- Points to validate before the candidate is presented
- Scores are kept per role, and editing the brief marks old scores as out of date
Ran operations for two multi-site manufacturers and led an ERP rollout, both named in the brief. Has not reported directly to a listed-company board.

Side by side
Artificial and assisted, compared
| Question | Typical "artificial" approach | Assisted, in Fortemap |
|---|---|---|
| Where does AI start? | A model scores every applicant. | System Match searches your own database first. AI scores only the shortlist you pick. |
| What comes back? | A ranking. | A score with sub-scores, a written rationale and points to validate. |
| Who rejects candidates? | The model filters people out. | Only a person. AI never changes a candidate's stage. |
| Who contacts candidates? | Automated outreach. | Your recruiters. AI does not send messages. |
| Job descriptions | AI writes them. | AI reads them. JD parsing extracts fields from your brief and does not write one for you. |
| Documents | Generic generated text. | Drafts from the candidate record in your template, reviewed before sending. |
| Cost | A per-seat AI fee, used or not. | Pay as you go per operation, in real currency. No AI seat fee. |
Under the hood
An orchestration layer we control, not a chatbot
Fortemap's AI runs through a deterministic orchestration layer. Each task has a fixed schema, a fixed prompt and a known output, which makes results consistent and easy to audit.
Provider-independent
The engine talks to AI providers through one interface, with routing, retries and fallback. We can change or add models without changing how you work.
Structured outputs
Parsing, scoring and each document section use their own schema, so a dossier or a score always has the same shape.
Versioned match runs
Re-running a match adds a new version instead of overwriting the last one. You can see how a score changed and why.
Pay for operations, nothing else. Parsing, match-fit scoring and summary, document generation and the smart job board are charged pay as you go. Searching your own data is free.

About AI in Fortemap
What is the difference between artificial and assisted intelligence in recruitment?
Artificial approaches let a model act on candidates directly, for example by ranking and filtering applicants. Assisted intelligence uses AI to prepare information such as parsed profiles, scores with reasons and document drafts, while a person makes every decision about a candidate.
Does Fortemap reject candidates automatically?
No. AI in Fortemap never moves a candidate between stages or rejects anyone. Only a recruiter or hiring manager can do that.
Why is System Match free?
System Match compares skills between your candidates and a role using your own data, with no AI model involved. Because it costs us nothing to run, it costs you nothing either.
Can the AI explain its match scores?
Yes. Each score includes sub-scores for skills, experience and requirements, a written rationale linked to the brief, and a list of points to validate.
Which AI models does Fortemap use?
Fortemap uses large language models from established providers through its own orchestration layer. The layer is provider-independent, so we can change models without changing your workflow. Contact us if your organisation has requirements about specific providers.
